Hi, I'm Courtney. I'm a professional aura painter, tarot reader, reiki practitioner and psychic medium based in Southern Maine.

  • My Roots

    After a series of spiritual and intuitive awakenings, I realized that spirituality is an essential piece of life too often missing in this chaotic modern world. If you're feeling lost, uncertain, or disconnected from yourself, you're not alone. In 2020, I started Deerborn Intuitive to help others bridge the weird and woo with the everyday, normalizing the magic of your Soul. I believe that like food, shelter, and love, humans need some sort of spiritual connection, whatever form it takes.

    My work comes from a deeply compassionate place, combined with a whimsical place. I enjoy guiding others toward discovering their own personal believes and intuitive gifts, so they may live the life that makes them the happiest. Deerborn Intuitive is a grounded, real world approach to self development, spiritual exploration, and lasting healing through personal empowerment.

Who is Courtney Deerborn?

  • Containing Multitudes

    My mother called me her flower child. I've always been a sensitive artist type, often with my head in the clouds. I felt everything deeply, and my mind was constantly thinking, thinking, thinking about a better world that felt out of reach. Starting in childhood, I always had interest in the weird, whimsical, and paranormal, as well as a curiosity for how and why humans do what they do.

    My self expression and self regulation takes the form of song or art. I grew up in a musician home, where I taught myself guitar and piano. I loved playing the drums the most. I was always creating something, whether writing a story, a song, designing a zine, painting, or drawing. My creative outlets are where I turned during life's biggest challenges and pains.

    When I'm not reading cards or painting auras, I'm singing at weddings or in my home studio creating a new celestial work of art.

  • The Origins of Deerborn

    In 2014, I could not ignore my intuition any longer. Stifling myself only led to anxiety, depression, an eating disorder, and PTSD from abusive relationships. It was time to wake up. I began reaching back out to my grandmother in spirit, something I did often as a kid and teenager. She started sending me the Deer, and I would see the animal everywhere! It became deeply meaningful. As a Spirit Animal, Deer guided be to recover my gentleness and inner peace after turmoil. My dreams became more ethereal than ever, taking me up into the cosmos and the astral plane. I started to remember the Soul gifts I had been in touch with as a child but abandoned; my sensitivity to energy, perceiving it through color. I felt reborn by the Deer.

  • The Development of Auras by Deerborn

    My aura paintings began as mini 3 inch acrylic paintings by mail through Etsy in 2020. Before this, I made the realization in 2014 that I was an energy reader. I can see the aura with both my mind's eye and my physical eye. I perceive the energy as psychic knowing or downloads of information, like the unique frequencies of the hues carry energetic codes. In 2022, I branched out to share live aura painting sessions locally. As my offering grew and expanded, I changed my aura paintings to a larger size, accommodating the full aura in the portrait. I also decided to switch mediums, from acrylic to watercolor, which allowed for Spiritual energies to create more intuitive shapes and flow within the artwork that hold meaning. The aura is constantly shifting, even sometimes by the minute, and I feel that using watercolor really captures that!

    Originally, my aura readings were more simple: personality readings with corresponding spirit messages. They have since developed into a multidimensional connection with your subconscious, past, present, future, Spirit, Soul, your higher self, the cosmos, and so much more.
