It is a 78 card deck, each card correlating to a certain theme, experience, and emotion. In popular culture, people have associated Tarot with fortune telling and secretive esoteric practice. However, the cards can be used in many ways: personal development, spiritual exploration, connection with your own inner wisdom, a compass for the path ahead.

Basic tarot knowledge is helpful to have, but not necessary. My goal is to give you structure & guidance that will enable you to confidently connect with your cards.

When reading cards for myself or clients, I consider the traditional meanings and psychological correspondences, then lace in my whimsy. I take an intuitive approach, considering card imagery, symbolism, numerology, divination, spirituality, creative perspectives, and energy. I like to read for practical guidance while also curating an environment that feels like play, even when approaching difficult subjects. 

You’re encouraged to bring along your journal and tarot deck. If you do not have your own, that’s okay! I will bring along a few from my collection to share, and Moon Lady Plants will have some intentionally picked decks available for purchase!

Tarot decks most compatible with this lesson are: Rider-Waite Smith, Smith-Waite borderless Tarot, Llewellyn Classic Tarot, Universal Tarot, Golden Art Nuveau Tarot, and the Modern Witch.

They are similar, but not the same thing. Tarot goes by a set framework, with the same number of cards, the same suits and themes, no matter the deck and its artwork. Oracle cards, on the other hand, are structured based on the creator's vision and the messages they wish to share. They may have more or less cards. They may stick to a specific theme or emotion, or convey a wide variety of such. I like to pull one or two cards from an oracle deck as a companion to a tarot reading.

I'm a firm believer that the Universe will find a way to deliver the messages we need, when we need them. In this way, the cards become a tool to tap into different energies, inspirations, and flows of insight. Tarot speaks to your subconscious, helping emotions surface that may be only in your peripheral up to that point. If you receive a reading that doesn't seem to resonate, give it time to stew. You may be too close to the situation to see it with full clarity.
